Masseter (Jawline Slimming)
Treatment
This treatment is designed to relax the masseter muscles, which are the large muscles at the angle of the jaw responsible for chewing. In people with enlarged or overactive masseter muscles, this can create a wider, more square jawline, or contribute to jaw clenching and teeth grinding (bruxism).
By carefully relaxing these muscles, the jawline can appear slimmer, whilst also helping to reduce symptoms of jaw tension for suitable patients.
What to Expect at Your Treatment
Before
Treatment is carried out following a full consultation and prescribing assessment to ensure suitability. We begin with a thorough consultation to discuss your concerns, medical history and treatment goals. Your jaw muscles will be assessed whilst clenching to determine whether you're a suitable candidate. We'll explain the expected results, potential risks and answer any questions you may have.
During
Three to four small injections are placed in to the masseter muscles on each side of the jaw using a very fine needle. Most clients describe the treatment as causing only mild discomfort. No anaesthetic is required and the downtime is very minimal.
After
You may experience some mild redness, swelling, tenderness or small bumps at the injection sites immediately afterwards, this is normal and usually settles quickly. Full aftercare advice will be given at the time of your appointment.
Results typically develop over 1-2 weeks, with the effects last several months.
